Hazard is the ancestor of the popular casino game called craps. The inventor of Hazard was an Englishman who is Sir William Tyre. The Arab word was "Al Zah," which sound similar to Hazard. Although both arguments state different sources, the origins remain Arabic.

Craps accounts have distinguished the earliest play during the Roman civilization. Historians have attributed this account from some articles excavated similar to the pieces of craps. In addition, craps historians narrate Roman soldiers shaving and reshaping the pig knuckles in order to create cube-like pieces. Afterwards, these men inscribe number on these knuckles and start rolling on the back of their shields as a leisure activity.

This game of dice have enhanced and continuously traveled to other locations. It explored the route to France and some Mediterranean locations, where many gamblers have seen the popularity potential of craps. During its residence in France, Hazard was termed by its advocates as "Crabes" that meant losing two consecutive throws.

Craps' accounts have entailed the travel of the game to other parts of the globe. Because of exploration, the game of dice rolled to Atlantic reaching America during the settlement of Mayflower citizens. The game also drove its route reaching America along with French advocates. These French citizens have initialized the Acadia colony during the early eighteenth century. In the middle of eighteenth century, the British force have already conquered the Acadia and termed the location as Nova Scotia. This started the exodus of French citizens at Nova Scotia, wherein they have traveled to Louisiana. French citizens have named themselves as Cajuns and persistently played the game of dice known as "Crebs." Currently, the Cajuns became continuous advocates of crebs, which later termed by gamblers as craps.

The founder of the craps gamblers presently play is the John H. Winn. This gentleman had revised the game during the 19th century, wherein he modified the methodology for other gamblers to enjoy the game. With his devised process, placing bets can occur as dealer or player. With this modification, problems on dice loads had been eradicated because this process has given benefits to casino owners. Moreover, John H. Winn also invented the craps table comprising of grids and felt covering.
